Why it matters to you

Under the household waste duty of care, you must take reasonable steps to make sure whoever takes your rubbish is allowed to. If your waste ends up fly-tipped by an unregistered collector, you can be fined, even though you paid someone to take it.

How to check any waste carrier

1. Ask for their waste carrier registration number. In England it usually starts with CBDU.
2. Look it up on the Environment Agency public register.
3. Check that the name matches and the registration is in date.
4. Ask where the waste is going, and for a waste transfer note.

Where your waste goes

Everything we collect goes to a licensed waste facility, where as much as possible is sorted for recycling. We can give you a waste transfer note for your records.
